about

“Sounds of the Nordic Islands II” is a sequel to Villu Veski - Tiit Kalluste first album, Sounds of the Nordic Islands.

"The idea to record a CD of this name arose after a concert tour in Faroe Islands where the severe beauty of northern nature, folk tunes, legends and myths inspired us to journey also to other northern islands - Aland, Gotland, Öland, Rügen, Saaremaa (Ösel) and Hiiumaa (Dagö).
Gettings together with people who still remember ancient airs - once sung on coasts and islands - have fired to continue the rut once started. The saxophone-accordion sound, familiar from the first album is replaced on the present one by a quintet of musicians of different nationalities. Remained has the idea - to create music which contains centuries-old information encoded into sounds. In this way, and only within a song do meet two men from Muhu (Moon) and a musician of African roots who all together are on lookout for wife.
It is even slightly symbolic that the album was released on Faroe Islands - the place where the idea of recording the musical travelogue "Sounds of the Nordic Islands" once was born."
