Over the last few decades Tiit Kalluste has found his own musical handwriting in tune with the Nordic state of mind.
Cast in four movements, the title song of the album is also a testament of the ever-present nordic philosophy in Tiit's composition. However, Midnight Sun surpasses these limits flowing in time and space without bowing to one geographic location. The sound landscapes painted in the current album are more universal drawing from mainstream jazz and even house music.
Tiit's lyrical compositions and liquid sound in collaboration with the quartet's unique voice invite the listener to the world of pensive music experience. The talented musicians contributing to the album have been honoured as winners of the prestigious Young Estonian Jazz Talent award Joel Remmel in 2011, Kaspar Kalluste in 2012 and Heikko Remmel in 2016. Two of the album tracks are colored by the trumpetist Allan Järve.
The hook of the album lies in the balance between structure, development, conscientious arrangements and the improvisational freedom of Tiit's compositions.
